| HISTORY OF RHINO - HOW WE CAME TO
BE! |
Dear Valued Customer,
We are a small, fast growing, family owned company specializing in
innovative, high quality strap and bag products for Fire, Rescue, EMS,
Law Enforcement, and Sports.
We started this business at the urging of our children (one daughter was
a paramedic, one daughter a firefighter/NREMT-P, and one son an
environmental engineer and youngest son a RN/EMT-P; with son-in-law
a fire chief and daughter-in-law a mechanical engineer). Thanksgiving
Day, 1990 the paramedics and firefighters were complaining about the
poor design and quality of most of the straps and bags they had to use,
especially backboard straps. Our response was, "Okay, you guys come up
with a better design and we'll see if they'll sell."
Two weeks later our first company, BOWDITCH INCORPORATED was born and
our original product, the Bowditch QuickStrap backboard system was
conceived. We selected materials, identified suppliers, and started to
manufacture QuickStraps in our basement. They were an instant success
and those services who gave them a shot ended up converting to our
QuickStraps and are still loyal customers today!
Late in 1991, at the request of and with the help of one of our first
customers, we designed a simple, inexpensive bag to hold their "C"
collars, towel rolls, tape, and of course, our QuickStraps. Next came an
O2 bag based on the ideas of another good customer, and BOWDITCH
INCORPORATED was in the bag business. With these additions to our
product line we had to move out of the basement.
Next, we recruited some professional sewing machine operators. Their
experience, and more importantly their meticulous, reliable, and real
pride-in-my-work attitude had an immediate and positive impact. Many of
these great people are still with us today and continue to be one of the
key reasons for our success.
The reputation of our products continued to bring in new customers with
new product ideas and hence new products. As a result we now offer over
100 products. Our largest customer is Stryker Medical. Rhino is
proud to make accessories for their "Rugged"
ambulance cot. Our EZCarry Fire Hose system has been
offered in Gall’s catalog since 1993.
We changed our name in 1995 to Rhino Products, Inc. Same management,
products and people - new name.
Today all of our products are developed in the same way as the original
Bowditch products - conceived in the field by the professionals who must
use them; designed, engineered, and constructed by professionals right
here in Michigan, USA!
